Closing Procedures for
Concord Friends Meetinghouse
Closing Procedures
Revised 2024
- Ask at rise of worship for Friends to help put chairs away and clean up after fellowship.
- Check that kitchen and drink sink counters are cleaned up and that the oven and refrigerator are off
- Refrigerator doors should be left open (rack in freezer can hold door ajar).
- Check that trash and recycling have been removed. If not, ask someone to take them, usually someone who does not have pay per throw: e.g., Kathy, Chris, Dave, Sue L, or Jennifer/Sara.
- Compost removed every week. If only coffee grounds, dump them outside on north side of building under plants (ravine side). If you can’t take compost yourself, find someone else to take it.
- Check that doors are locked. The Allen wrench key for panic bars that release them hangs on left side of window frame to right of main entry door facing out of building. Insert in hole on panic bar and twist. Key Lock box outside front door is code 1660 to open. Do the same for the hallway door. Its Allen wrench is hanging on a cord on the right side of that door.
- Pick up any items left in Worship or Fellowship Rooms and put them in the Lost and Found Box in the mechanical room on top of the file cabinets.
- Check that windows are closed and locked everywhere (bathroom, fellowship, worship, classrooms) during heating season. Leave a few cracked in the off heating seasons.
- Vacuum carpets in lobby, outside main entrance, bathroom hallway, left classroom and kitchen, rear exit by kitchen, and mechanical room entrance (and toddler room, if used).
- Check if there are soiled bathroom and/or kitchen towels. Bag up any present for the Heaths to take home and wash. If the Heaths are not present, take them home or pass them to someone who will launder and return them.
- Make sure all interior and outside lights by doors are off. Outside floods are not adjusted.
Bathroom cleanup:
- Wipe down sinks and then toilets with disinfectant (use wipes or spray and towel or sponge).
- Floors swept and spot cleaned if needed.
- Trash cans emptied into trash that will be taken home – new bags are in bathroom cabinets.
Zoom Setup in Worship Room is usually taken care of by the tech committee. Check that:
- Batteries in handheld microphone are in a charger. Microphone is placed on the rolling cart.
- Computer and TV are off (Smart Switch on wall behind the right lower side of TV).
Fellowship Room (when Friends are leaving after fellowship, ask for help with these tasks):
- Move the Mac computer from library counter to left classroom in far corner (on floor is safe).
- Move most chairs to the mechanical room (overflow that would make it hard to get the preschool items.out) in left classroom, folded, leaning along left wall (side of white cabinet).
- Move any items on library counter to left classroom (e.g. twirling pamphlet holder, acrylic magazine holder) onto top of low shelving.
Toddler Room (right classroom):
Move items from toddler room to the left classroom (they are not used by the Pathfinders):
- Red box of large wooden blocks,
- Gray cloth box of Brio train tracks,
- Red plastic 3-tiered rolling toy shelves (contains trucks, boats, planes),
- Toy baby carriage and stuffed animals.
If you can (2 people), move kids’ kitchen to Fellowship and leave it near the right window.
