Landscaping - 4th Sunday May 26th

Dear Friends,

On 4th Sunday this month we will be working on landscaping the area disturbed by the geothermal installation and the area in front of the Meeting Room.  For those who are unable to work outside there will be clean up from our potluck lunch and other indoor cleaning projects available.

The landscaping is mostly physical work digging, loading and pushing wheelbarrows, and moving landscape timbers.  Lighter work will be weeding of the area in front of the Meeting Room and picking up sticks and leaf-raking around the back of the building.  Please bring sunscreen, work gloves, and bug repellent.

Hand trowels for weeders would be appreciated. Spade shovels and wheelbarrows would be great to have if it is easy for you to bring them.  We do have 4 long-handled spades, several flat-ended shovels, and two wheelbarrows so bringing tools is not required.

Should there be just a light rain or drizzle we'll hope to carry on.  We'll cancel if there's a heavy rain.

Please direct questions to Greg.

Meeting for Listening: The Spiritual Life in Our Local Meetings

June 1st, 2024, 9:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Join us for a gathering of Friends in New England caring for the nurture of spiritual life and ministry in our local faith communities.  It will be a full-day, hybrid gathering where Friends can gather in different ways: on site at Concord (NH) Meeting, in local clusters connected via Zoom, or individually via Zoom.

Registration is now open.  Whether you plan to participate via Zoom or gather with others, you can register for this free-of-charge event at neym.org/Meeting-for-Listening.  If you plan to attend on site in Concord, please register by May 26th.  This will help us comfortably accommodate everyone.

Looking forward in faith,

Carl Williams, Ministry and Counsel Clerk

Nia Thomas, Program Director

Hospitality Opportunity

On Saturday, June 1st NEYM is presenting a Listening Session at our Meetinghouse. Our Meeting will offer food hospitality.  There will be coffee, tea, and breakfast pastries.  For lunch, attendees will bring their own bag lunch.  Our Meeting will provide a green salad with fixings such as tomatoes, mushrooms, red onions, cheese, walnuts, cucumbers, pumpkin seeds, peppers, celery, etc. or something wild from your garden!

If you would like to provide any of these food items, a dessert, or fresh fruit, please contact Kathy Urie, Hospitality Coordinator, (603-296-5659) to make sure there will be salad variety.  She may be able to pick up your donation, or you could come to the Listening Session, as well.

Spring Party - Sunday, June 2nd

This year's Spring Party will be held at Heidi Babb's new home on June 2nd at the rise of Meeting for Worship.  There will be a potluck there.  We will have Spring Baskets for all, so please let us know whether you will be attending so a basket can be made for you!  And let us know if you can contribute something to the baskets and what it will be.  We generally have about 20-25 people attend; if you are bringing small items that you want to put in every basket, bring that many items.

Heidi just purchased this home at 25 Concord Dr, Webster NH with lake frontage on Pillsbury Lake!  Since she has just moved into the house and has a bit to do on it, we invite those able to stay to work on projects inside to help her get settled.

Book Sharing “An Altar in the World

Our next meeting will be June 2nd at 9 a.m. in the Meetinghouse.

Solemn Vigil for a Cease Fire in Gaza

Thursdays at Noon, At the corner of Main and Center Street

The silent vigil for a ceasefire in Gaza continues every Thursday from Noon-1pm at the corner of Main and Center Street.  Make your own sign, use one provided, or just stand in silent witness besides others. This is done in coordination with NH Peace Action.  We suggest that people make signs that convey something about justice for Israel and Palestine.  Also please avoid the word genocide, ethnic cleansing, and similar terms.

Concord Friends Meeting COVID–19 Policy

We strive to create a beloved community which shows loving concern and actions toward all attenders of the Meeting and all with whom we interact in the wider world.  We demonstrate this care and love by being vaccinated, because vaccination protects the person vaccinated and others with whom they come in contact.  We encourage all attenders to be vaccinated and keep their vaccinations up to date.  We believe this will make our meetinghouse a safer space for attenders whose own network includes people who are at greater risk of death or disability should they get the COVID-19 virus.

We request that you attend via Zoom if any of the following apply:

  • You have a fever, cough, or other viral symptoms.  (This is because you can have COVID and spread it before testing positive.)
  • If you have had COVID recently, please don't attend in person until after the 5th day after you tested positive; and please wear a mask until the 10th day (or longer if your doctor recommends).
  • If you know you have been exposed to COVID, please do not attend in person until after testing negative on the 5th day after exposure.  Then please continue to wear a mask until the 10th day after exposure.

Otherwise, masks are currently optional in the Meetinghouse unless the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports hospital admissions for COVID as “red” in any county of New Hampshire on the following map: https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#maps_new-admissions-rate-county  For further clarification or questions, please contact Clerk [at] ConcordFriendsMeeting [dot] org.

Reminders

  • Please remember to keep a pair of slippers or indoor shoes on the shoe rack to limit damage to our floors.
  • Plastic Bags can be put inside the box by the entrance of the Meetinghouse.
