Movie Night at the Meetinghouse Friday, February 9th, 7 p.m.
Hello Friends.
Greg and Ruth invite you to join CFM to view a movie that is one of their perennial favorites, Groundhog Day, directed by Harold Ramis and starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell.
The film has long been a favorite among Zen practitioners as well, and for good reason. Certainly this is a classic comedy, but it turns on deep themes of life's ultimate questions. The filming and production were fraught with conflict between Ramis, who championed the comedic elements and Murray, who wanted to explore the philosophical questions more deeply. We think they struck a good balance.
Click on this link to hear a CBC interview with Greg's Dharma brother, Larry Johansen, a Jamaican-Canadian who draws the parallels between the the movie and Zen practice. Your device's operating system should bring up an audio player. Just click the play button.
For distant Friends, if you would like to join us by Zoom be sure to let us know, and we can set it up. - Ruth and Greg

CFM Book Group
The (unnamed) Book Group is ready to start a new book and it is a good time for people to join. We are interested in how we relate to people who are culturally different from us and just finished reading Becoming Kin, by Patty Krawec: An Indigenous Call to Unforgetting the Past and Reimagining Our Future.
We take a slow, in depth approach, to give us time to examine our learnings from the text. We have been meeting on second and fourth Tuesdays at 9 a.m. over Zoom. If you would like to give us a try, we invite you to join us on February 13 at 9 a.m. If you would like, read the following short reading; we will have a discussion which will give you a chance to see if you want to join before buying/obtaining a new book. Go here https://dismantlediscovery.org/resources/stories-of-repair/
Fill out the order form, but do not put a number for a book (unless you want one anyway) and you will get a PDF of the book. The story we are discussing is on p11-16 of the PDF. You do not need to make a donation.
We have not chosen a new book but these two books were suggested: Ned Blackhawk's -The Rediscovery of America (native people in the unmaking of American history).
And Darcia Narvaez's Restoring the kinship, worldview: indigenous voices, 28 precepts for rebalancing life on Planet Earth

Silent Vigil for a Cease Fire in Gaza
Thursdays at Noon infront of the arch at the Concord State House
The silent vigil for a ceasefire in Gaza continues every Thursday from Noon-1pm at the plaza in front of the State House. Make your own sign, use one provided, or just stand in silent witness besides others. This is done in coordination with NH Peace Action.
We suggest that people make signs that convey something about justice for Israel and Palestine. Also please avoid the word genocide, ethnic cleansing, and similar terms.
If you wish to attend, please contact Ruth (or just come, but if we know you're coming it will be helpful).

Meetinghouse Cleanup
Hi Friends,
Our next cleaning day after Fellowship is the third Sunday in March. If there is anyone who couldn't make it to the January cleaning day that wants to find a time to do something after another M4W and Fellowship time, I have a few things that could be done in the interim. I need to look around this coming Sunday and decide about priorities since many things could actually wait until March that are indoor tasks (which is likely all we will be doing then, too). So talk to me after M4W. Or if you have a desire to be doing something while neither the Meeting community nor the childcare program is there, get in touch with me.
