The Leaves are Gone
Many thanks to all who helped ... and all who wanted to help as well! As we care for our space we care for each other.
UU exhibit re. incarceration and deportation of immigrants
Trudy Mott-Smith has shared this with us:
You are invited to see, and attend some special events related to, a beautiful piece of fabric art commemorating the incarceration and deportation of people attempting to enter the US across the Southern border.
The work is called "Don't Look Away- the 45,000 Quilt" and is in 6 sections, each 9' by 9' in size, composed of fabric-art panels made by people all over the US and one person in Mexico. The work originated with NH artists. It is now on display at Concord Unitarian Universalist Church at 274 Pleasant St, Concord, NH. See the poster for more information.
A second attached poster tells about a related display of art by juveniles incarcerated in Tornillo Detention Center. Please share on Facebook and pass it on to all those who might be interested. Thank you.
Help Needed in Children’s Program
Although we have 4 people in the teaching rotation, the children’s program needs another person each week to provide childcare for younger –than- Kindergarten children. This can be outside (weather permitting) or inside in the children’s play room. We have not had many people signing up for this, and had to snag someone who hasn’t yet gone into Meeting a couple times.
You must have had a background check (done by NEYM) before volunteering. If you are a pre-approved childcare helper, please check your email for a link to where to sign up online. If you would like to become a helper, please email religiousEduation [at] ConcordFriendsMeeting [dot] org to initiate that process.
If you are not attending Meeting in person, you can also help us fulfill our child safety policy by being a remote observer into our classrooms. We will be setting up a cell phone connected to a YRE Breakout Room in each physical classroom. A Zoom attender could sign up to randomly enter our classrooms to monitor (and then return to Worship Zoom room). If you would like to sign up for this, please do so at the Google doc in the Remote Observer column: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XAX0pPv1wkzbGu7qR5-CsoAbALnIS_nh_w8hJdP2QWM/edit
Rotating Jobs at Meeting
JJ has just updated the rotation of jobs at Meeting and it appears there is the need for a new rotation of kitchen cleanup. We are always interested in expanding the list to include new participants. Participants might not generally come to meeting in person but still want to support the physical work that needs doing. Training is happily provided. If you would like to fit into any of these jobs, please respond to this message with a subject line of "Jobs at Meeting" and thank you in advance.
These rotating jobs include:
- closing with a partner (20 to 30 min. or so - Lights off, windows closed, a bit of cleaning, etc.
- Kitchen clean up on 2nd or 4th Sunday with a partner.
- Boiler cleaning - for those mechanically inclined and not impaired by asthma or other respiratory ailments. This can also be done on the Saturday prior to meeting, Sunday night, or the Monday following meeting.
Divine Metaphors
December 8th, 2022, 7:00-8:00 PM (ET) on Zoom! Facilitated by Rob Spencer
Come gather to explore eye-opening (and “I” opening) metaphors of the Divine. What words can we use to describe the indescribable? Take a leap of faith and fancy as we soar off the cliff together to discern and share our own Metaphors—before landing safely by the end of the hour. Free and open to the public--bring along a friend! (A voluntary donation of $10 to support One Spirit Learning Alliance is suggested.) A more complete description and registration information can be found here: https://www.1spirit.org/community/events/gathering-12-8-22
