A Note from Heidi

With the first Sunday of the month falling on the big holiday weekend, our second Sunday business meeting will be here before you know it! Please get your committee reports to me by next Wednesday, 9/7, so we can send them out with the newsletter. Also, if you have any requests for agenda items, please let me know by Friday 9/9. That way your co-clerks and recording clerk have time to discern our agenda and prepare for the meeting. Kindly email to: PresidingAndRecordingClerks [at] ConcordFriendsMeeting [dot] org Thanks!

Letter to Christine Imbiti

YRE students and committee members have drafted a letter to Christine Imbiti, the young student from Kenya who we have sponsored for many years. We plan to scan and send the letter to her and include signatures from as many people in our Meeting as possible. We encourage anyone who has not already done so to please sign your name at the end of the letter. The letter is on the table in the hall of the Meetinghouse. We hope to be able to send it to her next week.

Concord, NH Crop Walk (to eradicate hunger) September 24

As you may remember, the CROP Walk is an annual fundraiser held nationally to alleviate the challenges of disease, disaster, and displacement that leave people hungry locally and internationally. The on-going war in Ukraine, on top of the pandemic and other disasters is causing a global food crisis. Millions are on the brink of famine. Local congregations form teams and members make donations to support those teams. Over the years, CFM has been a strong contributor to this effort.

This year's CROP Walk (38th annual) is planned as a normal in-person walk starting from the Jesus Christ Church of Latter Day Saints (LDS) on Clinton St. in Concord. Registration will begin at 12:00 with a kick-off rally at 12:30 and the walk beginning at 1:00. There will be refreshments at the church afterward.

World Quaker Day - Pittsfield Meetinghouse, October 2

The Outreach Committee is collaborating with other Meetings in Dover Quarter to present a public event on Sunday, October 2nd at 1pm at the Pittsfield Friends Meetinghouse. The theme is "Quakers - We're Still Here". While the essence of the public message is to say that there are active Meetings in NH and all over the world, the location will be used to add a local historical perspective. There will be more information in subsequent newsletters. Feel free to contact Outreach about it at OutreachCommittee [at] concordfriendsmeeting [dot] org. Everyone is encouraged to attend!
