Minutes of Meeting for Worship for Business
Concord (NH) Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends
Tenth Month 9, 2016
Attending: 13
10.1 The meeting opened with worship.
10.2 Solar Committee Report: The Solar Committee is expecting to get enough interest from other faith communities to be able to do the entire roof. There is much more to do, both on the financial side and on the regulatory one.
10.3 YRE Fundraising an Helping: The YRE Committee will be selling the Peace Corp calendars again. Forms are available for those who wish to have a background check in order to be a FDS helper. Completed forms should be returned to Ruth Heath.
10.4 Racial Healing Toolkit: An ad hoc committee has been formed to discuss how the Meeting might move forward on learning about racial justice and racial injustice. NEYM offers a racial healing toolkit with materials and activities. A link to their materials will be included in the email announcements.
10.5 Outreach Committee Report: The Outreach Committee pilot project will end with the calendar year and there are still funds remaining. The Committee is planning the purchase of “marketing” banners to be hung along the road. Friends with ideas for short messages can give their suggestions to the committee. The Committee is also pleased at how much outreach has been incorporated into the Meeting’s regular activities, including the Song Circle and the Peterson Toscano event.
10.6 Dover Quarter: We have received a letter from the Dover Quarterly Meeting Nominating Committee. They are suggesting that they act as an interim steering committee rather than nominating a clerk.
Friends acknowledged this arrangement while noting that there are many issues with the Quarterly Meeting system that need to be wrestled with during the upcoming year. Friends also approved hosting the January Dover Quarterly meeting here at the Meetinghouse if the Quarter requests.
The Steering Committee is also looking for those interested in a Cuban Work Camp, and inquire as to the passion of each meeting.
10.7 The meeting closed with worship.
