Second Month 28, 2016
Attending: 10
The meeting opened with worship.
2.7 Grant Proposal for Solar Power on Meetinghouse:
The Meeting reviewed the Solar Project Committee’s work, the goals of which are:
- Installation of solar photovoltaic panels to produce electric energy equivalent to the current and anticipated electric needs of the Meeting to achieve a net zero carbon footprint.
- Endeavor to establish the precedent and framework in New Hampshire for group net metering to speed the conversion from carbon fuels. To do so the Meeting will
- Develop the necessary contract to establish the host and member relationship.
- Establish cooperative relationships with churches, nonprofits, and/or individuals that lack a solar appropriate site. They help fund and expand the system to fill our expansive southern facing rooftop.
- Overcome the challenging regulatory environment to become an important community resource as a model demonstration site for group net metering such that the Meeting’s effort will have a multiplier effect.
The Meeting commits itself to implementing the plan as way opens, moving forward in faith.
The Solar Project Committee is now charged with moving forward with the project. The Meeting asks the Solar Project Committee to report its progress regularly and seek further assistance and direction from the Meeting as needed. The Meeting understands that some of the project funding would come from borrowing from the Replacement Reserve to be repaid through savings on our electric bill. Should the project not receive funding from the Legacy Gift Fund, the committee is asked to consider by what other means the project can proceed.
2.8 Community Safety Policy: Further revisions and suggestions were made regarding the proposed Community Safety Policy which the Youth Religious Education Committee will use to refine the policy draft.
The meeting closed with worship.
