MINUTES for DOVER QUARTERLY MEETING of FRIENDS

Held at Exeter Worship Group on 30th of 3rd Month, 2014
We visited the Exeter worship group that meets in Riverwood Retirement Community. They meet every Sunday with four to six people and usually start their meeting with a reading of some sort. Steve Richardson read a quote from Robert Louis Stevenson.
Present-4 from Exeter, 4 from Dover, 1 from Concord, 2 from West Epping, 1 from Weare, 1 from NH AFSC.
2014-03.1 State of Society
After worship, we read the written State of Society reports from Concord, Dover, Gonic, N. Sandwich, and Weare Meetings. Fritz Bell and Isobel Parkes of West Epping gave oral reports. Charlotte Fardelman added that there is one couple that attends the Exeter group from outside the retirement center.
2014-03.2 NH Death Penalty Repeal
A discussion followed about the repeal of the death penalty legislation in NH. Arnie Alpert read the All NH Gathering of Friends minute of 1985 and updated us on current legislation and shared the importance of writing our senators, especially for those who are in districts represented by Senators Odell, Sanborn, and Prescott.
2014-03.3 New Treasurer
We approved Bill Woodward from Dover as the new treasurer. We authorize him to be a signatory on all our accounts and to open new bank accounts if needed.
2014-03.4 Program
We adjourned to Exeter United Methodist Church where we ate lunch and had our program on Empowering women in Uganda and Tanzania given by Marian Baker. Attendance in afternoon – 2 from Exeter, 2 from Gonic, 3 from Dover, 4 from Concord, 3 from Weare, 1 from NH AFSC, and around 10 from the Methodist church joined us for the afternoon program.
2014-03.5 Giving donations to NH AFSC and others
We postponed any decision about giving some of our money to NH AFSC and to the ministry of Marian or others to our meeting in June.
2014-03.6 Next Meeting We adjourned purposing to meet next on 29th June at Concord Mtg.
