Minutes of Meeting for Worship for Business
Concord (NH) Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends
Tenth Month 13, 2013
Attendance: Mark Barker, Emily Cook, Jessica Ellis-Hopkins (acting recording clerk), Will Hopkins, Frank Irvine, Sara Smith, Pat Wallace, Dave Woolpert, Rob Yager (acting presiding clerk)
10.1 The meeting opened with a period of silent worship.
10.2 PSECC Committee Report: We have received a request for a donation from folks making a movie about Quakers, peace and nonviolence in relation to Costa Rica. If we contribute $200 our Meeting could be listed in the credits. When asked if the money would come from budget or individuals, Sara said that this kind of donation doesn’t fit as a current line item in the budget, so the committee was recommending that individuals donate to a special collection for the purpose. Mark Barker explained what they did at Richmond-upon-Thames Meeting [in Britain Yearly Meeting] : if they didn’t reach their $200 goal, then the Meeting would make up the difference. Friends agreed to support this type of strategy.
10.3 Budget Report: David Woolpert presented the budget report. We have received income of $7,266.37 and have total expenses of $6,677.46 for net income of $588.91. Member contributions are a little bit low for the time of the year [through September], but we are in good shape overall. Friends appreciated the report.
10.4 Property Committee: David Woolpert reported that the Property Committee has not met and will meet soon. Friends are asked to bring any concerns they have about the property or the building to the committee. Members are: David Woolpert, Greg Heath, Paula Werme, Jay Smith, Bill Noyce.
10.5 Peace Pole: Sara Smith reminded us that we have in the past discussed having a peace pole. She suggested that the Property Committee consider this. David agreed that Property Committee is the appropriate group to consider this kind of project.
10.6 The meeting closed with a period of silent worship.
Respectfully submitted,
Acting Recording Clerk, /s/ Jessica Ellis-Hopkins
Acting Clerk, /s/ Rob Yager
