Minutes for Meeting for Worship for Business
Concord (NH) Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends
11th month [11], 2012
Concord (NH) Monthly Meeting gathered in Meeting for Worship for Business. Members and attenders present were: 7
11.1 The meeting opened with a period of silent worship.
11.2 Tenth Month Minutes: The minutes from the 10th month Meeting for Worship for Business were approved with minor corrections.
11.3 Opening Worship Query: The clerk presented the concept of opening each of our monthly meetings for Business with a period of worship sharing on a query. Members suggested variations of this, such reading advices as well, reading the query during announcements at the end of worship, and sending it with announcements.
11.4 Meeting for Business Times: We discussed a suggestion to hold Meeting for Business other than at the rise of Meeting on Sundays, while still holding potlucks after Meetings at least once a month. The Clerk will poll other members not present to see if having a potluck and Business Meeting on some weekend evening would be more easily attended.
11.5 Financial Report: The Financial Report from the Budget Committee was discussed. Friends appreciated the report but voiced concern that the format of the Income and Expense Operating Report is confusing. Virginia Barker agreed to take this concern to Budget Committee.
11.6 Racism and Xenophobia Response: The clerk read an open letter that appeared in the Concord Monitor today addressed to a refugee family that has been a target of racial and ethnic threats. It called the Concord community to work more on racism and xenophobia. We asked the PSECC Committee to draft a letter in support of this initiative.
11.7 The Meeting closed in grateful silence.
Respectfully submitted,
Rob Yager, Acting Recording Clerk
Ruth Heath, Clerk
