Minutes of Meeting for Worship for Business
First Month 12, 2003
Concord (NH) Monthly Meeting gathered in a regularly called Meeting for Worship for Business on the date above stated at the Merrimack Valley Day Care Center, Concord, NH. Attenders and Members present were: Lois Booth (M), Recording Clerk Graham Chynoweth (M), David Freeman-Woolpert (M), David French (A), Natassa French (A), Dennis Holt (M), Jeanie Holt (M), Richard Kleinschmidt(M), Zane Knoy (A), Jean London (M), Jay Smith (M), Anne Saunders (A), Presiding Co-Clerk Louise Spencer (M), Kathy Urie (A).
The Meeting opened with prayerful silence, a reading from George Fox about coming into “the covenant of peace which was before waste and strifes were.” (1651) and a reading from the Book of James 4:1-3 about “What causes fights and quarrels among you?”
Minute 2003.1
1.1 Treasurer’s Report. Our Treasurer reported that with 58% of the fiscal year passed (06/01/02 to 01/10/03), 83% of the yearly budgeted income has been received. Such income includes previous years’ general fund carry forward of $2,131.07.
1.2 Mid-Week Meeting. Zane Knoy, for Ministry and Counsel Committee, reported on interest in a mid-week meeting for worship, possibly at Havenwood, Concord, or at a floating location. The Committee will be gathering information and further reporting to Meeting.
1.3 Megan O’Donahue Hodges. Meeting member Megan O’Donohue Hodges has asked to end her Meeting Membership with Concord Friends Meeting. Such request was granted. We will hold Megan O’Donohue Hodges in the light as she begins a new chapter in her spiritual journey.
1.4 First Day Programs Scheduling for 2nd, 3rd, 4th Months. Peace and Social Concerns Committee “4th Sunday Program” will be held on First Sunday in 2nd and 4th Months, 2003. The Meeting also scheduled a a program to address State of Society for 2nd Month, 3rd Sunday, except if invited discussion leaders cannot attend then such program will be held on 2nd Sunday with Meeting for Business to be held on 3rd Sunday.
1.5 Newsletter Distribution. As desired by the recipient, the Meeting Newsletter is distributed by post, at Meeting and/or by email. If distributed by email, a paper copy is available at Meeting. Requests to receive the Newsletter by mail in addition to email should be made to the Newsletter Circulation Coordinator. The Newsletter Editor shall have discretion as to whether a new edition of the Newsletter is to be circulated by mail in the first instance or brought to the next Meeting for in-person availability and then mailed. Anne Saunders is the Newsletter Editor and Circulation Coordinator. Jay Smith has been assisting in circulation by maintaining the Newsletter mailing label list.
1.6 Anne Saunders and Jay Smith Thanked for Newsletter Effort. The Meeting profusely thanked Anne Saunders for her successful efforts as Meeting Newsletter Editor and Circulation Coordinator. We also thanked Jay Smith for updating the Newsletter mailing list.
We adjourned after a period of silent worship purposing, with Divine assistance, to meet, 2nd First Day of next Month.
