Bear Brook Camping Trip (or day trip) for Wed, Jun 2nd – Sat, Jun 5th

One of our small groups meeting via Zoom is taking planning for Spring fun seriously.  They came up with the idea of a camping trip and Elaine agreed to take on the organizing.  Come to find out reservations are already going fast in the NH State Parks so this is timely information.  If you are interested, please take action soon.

Where: Bear Brook State Park Camp Ground

When: Arrive Wednesday, June 2nd - Leave Saturday, June 5th - the sites of choice have a three night minimum.

Site Reservations: Go online to the Bear Brook State Park site and reserve the site of your choice – 13 through 18. Click here. That will be our cluster. Sites already reserved may have room for folks to double up and there are other nearby sites,. If you try to reserve a site and find they have filled, contact Elaine right away.

Food: Bring whatever you need for food, plan for a potluck dinner on Thursday evening at 6:00.

Clothing: Bring warm clothing as it may be chilly at night. Also bring bug shirts and head nets – there might be black flies but they do not flourish in dry times. Bathing suits could be also useful if it is warm enough.  There is swimming and canoe/kayak rentals just for the campground, very close by.

Facilities: There are very nice bathrooms with showers and laundry also very close to these sites.

Day Use Passes: Due to the pandemic there are restrictions on day use passes. Reserve your visits here: day use reservations.

For More Information: Call Elaine at 617-359-8699.

Please reach out to the Property Committee so that we can be ready for reopening the meetinghouse

JJ, Clerk of Property, writes:

Property committee is starting to plan for when we can gather again in the Meetinghouse. There is a list of tasks that we need to have done to close up the Meetinghouse after worship and fellowship are finished. We will need to restart the closing schedule so we need to have Friends volunteer to be in that rotation. Please email the committee clerk at jaycmd7699 [at] gmail [dot] com to be in that list. If you know there are specific weeks that you won't be available in the next few months, let the clerk know that so there is less need to switch dates that are assigned. Once the list is drawn up, it makes most sense to deal with any new needs to be away on an assigned Sunday by each person finding someone else on the list to trade with. Please don't worry that this will be an overwhelming amount of work. Oftentimes Friends who don't have a partner who lives with them and comes to Meeting will team up with another Friend to make the work go faster and to enjoy the company. And often other Friends will offer to do some of the tasks before they leave, too.

Minutes of Last Meeting for Business

Please visit our web site to read the minutes. Click here.

Meeting for Business

Meeting for Business (the second Sunday of each month) will be this Sunday.  There is much to consider:  Our budget and nominations for the new fiscal year and hearing from the COVID-19 Committee regarding when we can begin to meet at the meetinghouse again among other items.  The Clerk reminds us to remember Friends' best practices since the agenda is very full.

Internet Access at the Meetinghouse

In anticipation of blended in-person and Zoom meetings coming soon we are arranging for the install of Comcast internet at the meetinghouse next Friday, May 14.  This will be their basic service and we hope it will be adequate to our needs. The meeting will have a modem and WiFi router on long term loan placed in the mechanical room.

Many thanks

Last Sunday fifteen or sixteen of us were able to work at the meetinghouse sprucing things up outside for the spring. In two hours time we got the place looking quite nice.  It was a great joy to work together with smiles abounding.  [See photos below.]
