Minutes of Meeting for Worship for Business

Concord (NH) Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends

Fifth Month 15, 2016

Attending:  17

5.1  The meeting opened with worship following the reading of #27 from Britain YM Advices and Queries on whether we are living adventurously and using our gifts in the service of God.

5.2  Finance Report:  The financial report was presented by the Treasurer, David Woolpert.  Total income was: $20,200; total expenses were $19,330; net income was $870.  Projected total income is $2,546 less than the budgeted amount.  Since projected expenses are $1,489 less than was budgeted, the projected net income for the year is $1,057.

5.3  PSECC Committee:  Nominating Committee presented their reportPSECC has been dormant this year as its members were not able to get together.  Friends discussed whether there is a need and the energy to have a separate committee or to give its work to other committees such as Outreach or Ministry & Counsel.  Richard Kleinschmidt volunteered to be convener.  Friends approved the continuation of the committee for the 2016-2017 year.

5.4  Hospitality Committee:  The Hospitality Committee has also not been meeting although there is a need for the work that they do for our meeting, for the wider Quaker community, and at public events.  Sara Smith volunteered to be co-coordinator, noting that the committee needs many people to help in various areas as well.  Friends asked Nominating Committee to discern the function and needs of the Hospitality Committee and return to the Meeting with their recommendations.

5.5  2016-17 Nominations:  Friends approved the other nominations for the 2016-2017 year.

5.6  “Black Lives Matter” Sign:  (Clerked by Ruth Heath)  Friends discussed the placing of a “Black Lives Matter” sign near the road in front of the Meetinghouse.  Friends would like to search for creative ways in which the Meeting can expand God’s work in this area through us, as well as expressing our solidarity with the history and emotions behind the meme.

Friends charged PSECC to lead this and open it to others who are called.  Several members expressed interest in this work.

5.7  The meeting closed with worship.
