Dear Friends,
While a big portion of the country is elated by the results of the last election, I am feeling a sense of emptiness. My faith that all will turn out well is deeply splintered if not shattered through. I feel as though something in our culture has shifted in a fundamental way that makes this past election a new direction and not an aberration. Going back seems not an option, with onward the only option. But onward without a map. Onward without understanding where I am. While so much seems to be a fog at the moment, I am quite clear that the only way that makes sense is onward with you. Onward with people who want to support each other as we share this uncertainly, listening to and loving each other, wanting to find ways to love all beings.
I've withdrawn largely from watching or listening to the news. It's a means of self preservation for the time being anyway. Though avoiding my daily dose of standard media, I am drawn to some articles that help me make sense of what has happened. I share them with the thought that they may be useful to you. One from the NY Times is a reflection on the COVID pandemic and its continuing impact on us, and the other is from The Guardian, speaking to other sources of the shift I am feeling. Perhaps you will find them useful.

We will have a special presentation on Sunday November 24th, 2024 after our Potluck. At 12:30 we will be showing a just-created film by the Cowasuck Band of the Penacook Abenaki People on the story behind the monument to Hannah Dustin on the nearby island. They have carefully researched how the story has been told and what historical data is available. It will be a useful lesson in how history is told and used over generations. More details to follow.

Thursdays at Noon
The silent vigil for a ceasefire in Gaza continues every Thursday from Noon-1 p.m. The vigil meets at the (Northwest corner of) North Main Street and Park Street in Concord [12] on the plaza in front of the State House. Make your own sign, use one provided, or just stand in silent witness besides others. This is done in coordination with NH Peace Action. We suggest that people make signs that convey something about justice for Israel and Palestine. Also please avoid the word genocide, ethnic cleansing, and similar terms.

Here are the links to the Statement of Operations [17] and Balance Sheet [18] that were presented on Sunday. Please note that the heading for column one of the Operations report reads Jun 24-May 25. This is due to a software limitation. It should read Jun 24-Oct 24. The overall report heading is correct. Major differences in the Balance Sheet from last month show an increase to our assets due to the purchase of the solar array, a new short term loan liability to reflect the financing, and the elimination of our prepaid electricity account which was also part of financing the purchase.
