An Evening with Steve Schuch
Saturday Dec. 2, at 7 p.m.
Concord Friends Meetinghouse, 11 Oxbow Pond Rd., Canterbury, NH
Award-winning multi-instrumentalist,
singer/songwriter and storyteller
Steve Schuch has delighted audiences across the US and Europe. Fusing Celtic/Folk roots with a storyteller’s heart and humor, his artistry touches people on many levels. Irrepressible singing, riveting violin and whales, tales of mud season and black flies, are all part of his wide-ranging repertoire.
Credits include a Grammy nomination, PBS soundtracks, and the Parents’ Choice Gold Award for his Trees of Life recording. Steve’s musical story, A Symphony of Whales, received five national book awards and was featured on NPR’s “Performance Today.” Beyond his solo work, he has performed and recorded with Windham Hill guitarist and producer Will Ackerman, folk legend Pete Seeger, and his own Celtic ensemble, The Night Heron Consort. Sound samples and more: www.NightHeron.com [8]
Steve is passionate about immigration justice. This concert is a benefit for the Asylum Seekers Support Fund of Concord Friends Meeting. Half of the ticket price and any other donations will directly support asylum seekers' legal expenses.
Cookie contribution sign-up for Asylum Seekers Support Fundraiser
Dear Friends~ PSECC is inviting Friends to sign up to contribute cookies and seltzer drinks to share for An Evening with Steve Schuch, fundraiser for Concord Monthly Meeting Asylum Seekers Support.
Friends can sign up by contacting Sharon Kulik at sk342151 [at] gmail [dot] com or by the sign-up sheet in the lobby table at the Meetinghouse. Thank you so much!
Our 20 to 30 minute after-Fellowship time on November 19th is this coming Sunday. If weather permits, we will focus on Fall outdoor cleaning of the grounds around the Meeting House. Dress appropriately and bring your home tools if that is convenient but the Meeting does have some shovels and rakes available.
Our 4th Sunday program following potluck will be a sharing around a few queries that we expect will resonate with most everyone who attends to meeting. Why did I start attending Meeting in the first place? What do I hope to gain from attending Meeting? Why is attending Meeting important to me?
Our sharing may provide very useful insights into each other's experience and a good start toward preparing our "State of Society Report" in early 2024. We thought it would be helpful to offer these queries now so that Friends will be able to take some time to reflect on them before our time together on November 26.
Galway City, Google Images
Hello all,
I am laboring away on three, four to five thousand word essays that will complete my semester. This week, I have the privilege to visit distant relatives in Galway City - where I briefly visited this summer. Next week I look forward to a short trip with the Kayak Club here at Trinity to Lahinch in Co. Clare for kayaking on the sea. Again, I anticipate returning to New Hampshire after December 14th. Hope all is well,
Matt
The Ramallah School in the West Bank was established by Quakers over 100 years ago and remains a Quaker school that serves both Palestinian and Israeli youth.
Friends United Meeting is partnering with QUIET (Quaker International Education Trust) and FWCC-EMES (Friends World Committee for Consultation – Europe & Middle East Section) to launch the “Wellbeing Campaign for Ramallah Friends School.” These funds will support RFS counseling and financial aid programs.

“We utterly deny all outward wars and strife and fightings with outward weapons, for any end, or under any pretense whatsoever; and this is our testimony to the whole world. The spirit of Christ by which we are guided, is not changeable, so as once to command us from a thing as evil and again to move unto it; and we do certainly know, and so testify to the world, that the spirit of Christ, which leads us into all Truth, will never move us to fight and war against any man with outward weapons, neither for the kingdom of Christ, nor for the kingdoms of this world.”
New England Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) Rebecca Leuchak, Presiding Clerk Noah Merrill, Yearly Meeting Secretary RL/NM:sh
For 123 years, the Gathering has provided worship, connection and community!
Help make the Gathering more financially accessible for Friends today and future generations—make a donation [10] and/or include FGC in your will [11].
The Gathering Together campaign [12]is a comprehensive fundraising effort that strives to ensure all Friends have access to the life-changing experiences of FGC ministries.
In 2021, we set a goal to raise $2.4M within three years.
From that, $1M will be used to build an endowment to ensure the long-term vitality and accessibility of the annual Gathering. The rest will expand and strengthen the Ministry on Racism, connecting and communicating with monthly and yearly meetings, youth and young adult ministries, and religious education and spiritual deepening.
So far, over 100 generous Friends have helped us raise $2.3M in cash and pledged gifts.
We’re so close to our goal!
Donate Now! [13]
Please consider making a donation or including FGC in your will to help strengthen and grow the Religious Society of Friends. A generous Friend is prepared to match any first-time donations up to $25,000. If you’ve never given to FGC, you could have the impact of your contribution doubled!
To learn more about the campaign and find ways that you can participate, visit fgcquaker.org/gathering-together [14].
